Exploring the Kruger
Kubu Chalet is located within the 4*Kruger Park Lodge Golf Estate, in Hazyview.Hazyview is the gateway to the Kruger National Park and surrounding tourist attractions. The Estate is a favourite for sure… It offers space, tranquillity and a calm bush environment. There are beautiful walks through the Forest, or along the Hippo Loop and the River Trail. The estate boasts a golf course and three outdoor pools. The main pool is found at the reception and entertainment area. Here you can grab a Pool Towel from reception and head off to bag yourself a lounger, order a cocktail and relax. Alternatively, take out your map and go and find the ‘secret’ pool, which is always quiet with few to no guests.
G’s Bistro and Terrace serve up amazing meals and is open for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. They have an interesting menu with traditional South African cuisine, as well as your regulars such as Pizzas, Steaks, Burgers and Salads. For something special, on a Tuesday night look out for the Boma Dinner in the Lapa on the banks of the Sabie River - this is a true authentic South African Braai.
Young children can entertain themselves in the Kiddies Play Area, whilst parents keep an eye out from the Terrace Bar. Without a doubt, one of the most unique things to do at the Kruger Park Lodge, is pack your sundowners and head off to the Hippo Hide at sunset. Sit quietly and watch the hippos as they saunter out the water and head off to go foraging into the evening.

From here you can go day tripping to Graskop Gorge, Pilgrims Rest which dates back to the gold rush of the 1800’s, Blyde River Canyon and the beautiful God’s Window for the most incredible views. Scenic roads take you to Borkes Potholes and the Lisbon Falls and beyond through the pine forests. This little tourist and farming town offers quality restaurants and outdoor cafés and a well-stocked supermarket for all your foodie essentials if you opt for the self-catering option for Kubu Chalet.
Something special to make time for are the elephants… Go and walk with the elephants through the forest, hold their trunk your hand and listen carefully as they walk slowly behind you - you won’t hear them.
